After a few months of the world entering in lockdown people started to get bored of being home and not having anything to do as a form of entertainment.
TikTok was the major platform that everybody merged so they could pass time in an easier way. People started to do all kinds of videos, joining trends, show some hidden talents that no one knew of and some new recipes that you might enjoy or maybe won’t.
This article talks exactly about that, “12 viral TikTok recipes from 2021 that were actually good”. The most viral recipe in TikTok was the baked feta pasta, that consists of placing baby tomatoes on a platter, drizzling them with oil and putting feta cheese in the middle. Once done add the pasta that was previously cooked.
This recipe was travelling around the world and around social media, it might have started on TikTok, but it didn’t take long to reach other platforms like YouTube or Instagram, just like it happened with the other viral recipes that the article mentions.
One sentence that this column refers is “…the food we made at home that tasted just as good as looked through our screens” is the selling point. In lockdown, what society did the most was probably eating, since they didn’t have the normal activities they used to do to occupy their time, eating more became a constant.
So, at this moment you’re doing two things regularly, spending time on social media and eating. You see videos of what looks amazing and tasty food, and you immediately want to try it. That’s how society and advertisement had been working nowadays, we sell for each other. How this works?
It happens so fast we don’t even notice, by showing these recipes in social media, first you are selling the ingredients. The probability of those products being sold more in grocery stores increases as much as the audience that the video reaches. You are unintentional advertising for grocery stores, specially if you say where you bought them. And the audience that makes your video blow up advertises you and your image.
Most of the videos you see end up being advertisement. They advertise food, clothes, accessories, lifestyle, and more.
TikTok has the power to cut videos, use effects and more. Most of the people are drawn to this app because besides entertaining, it doesn’t get boring since the videos are fast.
The platform consists of 15 second or 3 minute videos, according to the newest update of the app, which for cooking is not a lot of time. And you might know in your head that the recipe is going to take time but since you see these short videos your mind associates that they are going to be easy and fast.
Those who make these videos pass a positive image that everything it’s wonderful to make and you will have the most wonderful time. That’s how it works with a lot of other advertisements.
We all love to eat, and we see so many delicious things on billboards and social media that even your mouth starts watering but once you make them yourself or when you buy the product sometimes lets you down.
The power of advertisement is huge. They use all kinds of apps to make you like it and video advertisements usually also use the technique of pleading for your emotions.
